
Gloves Up, Guard Up
Welcome to our 1-hour semi-contact boxing class, designed for both beginners and those looking to sharpen their boxing technique. This class provides a safe and fun environment where you can learn more about boxing without the worry of being hit full-on. We kick off the class with a 10-minute warm-up session. Here, we focus on improving mobility and raising your heart rate through dynamic stretching and light cardio. The next 20 minutes are devoted to learning and practicing basic boxing techniques. Beginners will familiarize themselves with the fundamentals, such as stance, jab, cross, hook, and uppercut, while more experienced boxers can hone these skills. Following the basics, we'll pair up for a 20-minute semi-contact partner drill session. This is your chance to apply the techniques learned in a controlled environment, with an emphasis on speed, accuracy, and defensive skills, rather than power. You'll learn to anticipate movements, perfect your footwork, and improve your reflexes. Remember, the goal here is not to overpower but to ensure correct form and technique. After the partner drills, we'll wind down the boxing segment with a 10-minute cool-down period. This involves light stretching to promote muscle recovery and prevent injury. We'll then transition into a 10-15 minute abs and conditioning session. This part of the class focuses on strengthening the core, which is crucial for boxing, and improving overall physical condition. Exercises will range from planks, bicycle crunches, and Russian twists, to burpees and mountain climbers. By the end of the class, you'll have gained a deeper understanding of boxing as a sport, improved your techniques, and boosted your fitness levels. We aim to provide a comprehensive, safe, and enjoyable training experience. Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate, we look forward to helping you progress on your boxing journey.
